The Chartered Institute of Taxation's President's Reception takes place tomorrow at the Kia Oval, the home of Surrey County Cricket Club since it was opened in 1845. The reception is an opportunity for the President to thank the various supporters of the institute who participate in the many activities and committees necessary to ensure that that the institute remains at the pinnacle of tax excellence. I for one am proud to be able to call myself a Chartered Tax Adviser and help out on the Technical Sub-Committee: Management of Taxes and I look forward to meeting up with friends old and new tomorrow.
The Chancellor of the Exchequer, Sajid Javid, has announced he is planning to hold a Budget on Wednesday 6 November 2019 . In an announcement made today, the Chancellor of the Exchequer, Sajid Javid, said: 'This will be the first Budget after leaving the EU, I will be setting out our plan to shape the economy for the future and trigger the start of our infrastructure revolution. This is the right and responsible thing to do - we must get on with governing.' However, commentators are already saying that if there is a No Deal Brexit then the full Budget would be postponed with as the BBC assistant political editor Norman Smith has said the 6 November being "a simple economic statement". It is clear that the Government want to demonstrate that it is 'business as usual' but in these unchartered times can anything be taken for granted!
